Desolate Beginnings

The variety of landscapes Death Valley offers never ceases to amaze me. With most of the approaching clouds dissipating or far to the south, a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/mrbarbosa2000/">David felt it was safest to shoot somewhere that would take advantage of the clear skies. He took us to one of his previously scouted locations within terrain we had not shot this trip: the badlands. There, the badlands were striated with different bands of colors, but what really interested me were the mud cracks at the base of the badland buttes. To our luck some errant clouds wandered northward and lit up during sunset to provide some nice colors in our skies.
