Zebra slot canyon has been on my list of shots to get for years yet I never seemed to find time getting around to it. My last planned visit here got shelved after a rainstorm pummeled the southwest. Attempting to complete my slot canyon collection, I finally made a trip out to Escalante this fall.
Accustomed to the slot canyons around Page, Zebra slot is a rather short canyon. In total, Zebra is at most only 50-60 feet long. However, the last stretch is stunning with striated walls. During the early morning hours, the canyon had a cool dank color but as the sun rose higher a subtle glow crept in towards the back of the canyon. By mid-morning, the canyon colors were at its best with dynamic warmth towards the rear flanked by cool tones at the sides of the front.
