Autumn in the Gorge
Ever since hitting up the Columbia River gorge for the first time this past spring, I have wanted to return but for fall colors. The fall colors seemed to be going off earlier this year but excessive recent rainstorms prevented the gorge from fully exploding in autumn colors. Though it is an off year, we still managed to find patches of colors here and there.
On day 1 in the gorge with Alan and Aaron, we hit up the Eagle Falls trail with overcast skies. Our first stop was Metlako falls where we were treated to some decent colors framing the waterfall. Luckily the rainstorms did do some good in making the waterfalls have much more flow.
P.S. - After this hike, Aaron decided he deserved a dessert and proceeded in getting a head-sized ice cream cone. He was a big boy and subsequently downed that thing like no other.
