Andrena proxima female

ANOTHER new species for Shropshire from Devil's Dingle, Buildwas.

 

This is a scarce species in Britain, oligolectic on umbellifers. We saw good numbers foraging on Anthriscus flowers.

This record is a long way north of its previously known inland British records.

 

This female is heavily laden with the white pollen of Anthriscus.
