Mat Malone
Mount Tom Sunrise II
Early morning light hits Mount Tom, viewed from Sherwin Grade north of Bishop.
This is from a trip I made almost exactly two years ago. I actually started the morning at Convict Lake. But the wind was blowing so damn hard I could barely stand let alone make an image with the snow and ice blowing off the lake. I was freezing my butt off in long johns and a thick down parka. I think the temp was about 2 degrees F -- I can't imagine what it was with the wind chill. And it was snowing in Mammoth when I left my motel in the dark. Anyway, this was my backup spot and the conditions were actually relatively pleasant. I have to assume you'd get similar conditions in winter with 100mph+ ridge gusts.
I've never been quite happy with the processing (this is version 3.0). Several months ago I had some prints made and I hung this one in my bathroom. Let me tell you: if you ever want to be reminded of a substandard processing job you did, just hang a print inches in front of your face where you do your business!
Anyway, so here we are. Please let me know what you think, and feel free to be completely honest. Thanks for looking!
