KUALA TERENGGANU/floating mosque
Terengganu/Malaysia (The Tengku Tengah Zahara Mosque or the Floating Mosque was named after the Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, whose name was Tuanku Intan Zaharah binti Almarhum Tengku Seri Setia Raja. The mosque is built on the water at the Ibai River estuary which makes the largest floating mosque in Malaysia.
The mosque, which was built in September 1991 and completed in mid-January 1994, designed by Dato 'Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad, from the Bahri Art with features of Islamic civilization and a combination of local architecture.
An area of 1,372 square meters and a 30-meter high tower, a large dome and five waqafs and around 1.5 meter deep water can accommodate pilgrims up to 1,000 people who place the men's prayer hall at the bottom while women at the top...)
