British Railways Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 ‘Black Five’ class locomotive number 44949 of Newton Heath Motive Power Depot piloting British Railways Riddles ‘Standard’ 5MT 4-6-0 locomotive number 73069 of Patricroft Motive Power Depot depart from a stop at Droylsden Station Junction signal box 8 signal (down branch home) with the Warwickshire Railway Society’s additional 08:10 Coventry to Coventry via Birmingham New Street, Wolverhampton, Crewe, Stockport, Rochdale, Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Blackpool North, Blackburn, Hellifield, Carnforth, Morecambe, Warrington, Hartford Junction, Stockport, Stoke, Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street Farewell To Steam Rail Tour (1L66) which they hauled between Stockport (where they replaced British Railways AL5 Bo-Bo 25kV AC overhead electric locomotive number E3058 of ACL) and Preston where they were replaced by British Railways Type 2 Bo-Bo diesel-electric number D7515 of L.M.M.L. Division. Saturday 18th May 1968
