THE MING GARDEN CHINESE RESTAURANT HAS CEASED TRADING [OPEN TODAY ACCORDING TO TripAdvisor]-119818

TripAdvisor and other similar sites are showing this restaurant as ‘OPEN’ today. However I came across this in a local newspaper: “Agreed deals included the sale of the investment interest in part of Colonial Buildings at Eglinton Street, incorporating the Cellar Bar, the former Ming Garden restaurant and offices” said Mr Mullery.” While in Galway last week I visited on Tuesday and Wednesday and the restaurant was closed.

Housed on the 1st floor of the landmark Colonial Buildings on Eglinton Street, Ming Garden was a family owned Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Galway City Centre. The grand opening was in 1983 and it closed after more than thirty years in business.

Old style family owned Chinese restaurants are disappearing at a rapid pace here in Ireland [is this happening where you live?]. It would appear that this was an excellent restaurant and then suddenly in 2015 it started getting bad reviews and now it is gone … this is a typical pattern.
