Chill Hot Dog! K2 Imagining New York Weather While Watching Florida Fireplace - IMRAN™
Today is a chilling day in history when everything is flipped, the opposite of what it should be. So, this is a practical and visual commentary on the current situation.
It’s almost never fireplace weather at my blessed home in Florida. However, I wanted to test it out this holiday weekend.
It’s 56°F (feels like 53°F) in Apollo Beach, Florida versus 23°F (feels like 13°F) in East Patchogue, New York right now.
The irony is that I never put in a fireplace when I built the New York home in 1994 and moved into it in 1995, while this Florida home, which I purchased more than a dozen years ago, has — no kidding — three fireplaces.
I obviously can’t move these fireplaces to New York. Plus, I managed to escape New York before this current Arctic blast that is hitting the Northeast. So, it felt good to imagine that weather while savoring this roaring fire in Florida — despite wearing a golf shirt even outdoors here today.
K2, my German Shepherd Dog — whose pictures comfortably sitting on frozen ice in the New York backyard you would have seen — seemed to appreciate the irony as he relaxed, watching the fireplace. I love how the reflection of the flames on the floor around him gives him an extra glow.
Hope everybody is staying warm and safe wherever you are. Praying that our nation and we all survive these complex times ahead.
