Saga of the goanna who was thwarted in its attempt to find some nestlings 1

Or. . the saga of the valiant birds defending their territory! This story played out in front of us while we ate our lunch by the river one day. Two magpies and a currawong were steadfast in their efforts to move the goanna away from their tree, constantly dive bombing it and scratching its head with their beaks or their claws. They forced it down the tree, but it came back up, they nearly made it lose its hold, but it clung upside down by one foot, then righted itself once again. . . . . . photo MR
