Washington New Hampshire Town Square
The residents have long been proud that their town was the first to be named after George Washington. It never fails to inspire the visitor to see the white cupolas of the town hall, Congregationalist church, and schoolhouse/police station come into view as one drives into town. The town hall has been in use for over 200 years, while the schoolhouse has only been in use since the 1880s. The previous school was a small brick structure known as the Center School. The white public buildings are located close together on the town common.
