Sunflower and Bumblebee

Fifth image in this autumn botany series...

 

Many of the sunflowers surrounding this flower had pretty well dried up and lost their color. This was the exception and it was still bursting with beauty. I believe this particular variety is called 'Ring of Fire', and you can see why.

 

The chilly October air made this bumblebee slow and almost motionless, almost as if it were sleeping. I'm used to them buzzing about frenetically in the warm summertime, making it a challenge to get good focus. But not here... nice and still :)
