Marian Grotto
Despite not being Roman Catholic myself (I'm more in the Baptist tradition), I'm always taken by the beauty of their churches and their reverence for Mary, the mother of Jesus.
In the gardens of larger Catholic churches, there is often a cave-like grotto featuring a statue of Mary, where devotees can pause to meditate and pray and quiet their souls.
I photographed this on the grounds outside of the Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in our city of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
