Wings
Ruby Meadowhawk at rest on a Hosta flower...
I spent a few hours yesterday in our garden photographing these beautiful dragonflies.
Most of my images are from the perspective of a side view or straight on looking at their faces.
This particular dragonfly was facing me initially, then it decided to fly away, only to return with its back to me.
I quickly closed down my aperture to f/13 from f/5.6 so that I could hopefully get the wings in sharp focus.
Getting all those wings in focus is notoriously difficult when doing macro photography on these critters.
Thankfully they turned out sharp and in focus, so I'm posting it today for you to enjoy it with me :)
The lovely blue background is the out-of-focus hostal leaf from the exquisite cultivar Sieboldiana 'Elegans'.
