Keep Calm and Travel On. Life Begins at Seventy.

Haghia Sophia shot during the early morning hours on my seventieth birthday (10th November 2013).

I must have been the 2nd or 3rd person in when the church opened, the guards are standing there, ready for the incoming rush.

Haghia Sophia is, in my humble opinion, extremely difficult to shoot with a camera, also wide angle (as used here) does not help very much since the vertical perspective gets rather distorted. One way to do it is to shoot from the gallery and keep the camera more or less horisontal, such as I did here (February 2010), however with the horrible scaffold now going up on the north side that part of the gallery is blocked, and you don't see much from there (as things now are).

In this shot I straightened the vertical perspective (a little) with Lightroom, and include it here more or less as a memory of the day. And put in some notes (with links) to other pictures I took on that day (10th November) and on earlier occasions.
