Robert Harrill moved into an abandoned WW2 bunker in what is now know as the Fort Fisher State Recreation area in 1955 after hitchhiking across the state of North Carolina.
At one point before his death in 1972, he was one of the most popular tourist attractions in the state of North Carolina.
