Strong Gaze

The Strolling Professor statue is of William R. Johnston, a professor emeritus of chemistry. Johnston taught at NC State for 25 years. The statue, which is located in a small arboretum beside Burlington Nuclear Labs, not only immortalizes Johnston’s contributions to the university, but also holds several NC State superstitions. The most common tradition is to rub the Strolling Professor’s head on the night before your first chemistry test for good luck. (www.ncsu.edu/nso/traditions/campus/strollingprof/strollin...)

I was apparently unaware of this tradition...
