All in the garden
I've had such an awesome week so far, and it's not even half-way.
On Monday morning, I met a man who will be called Bob. Bob doesn't own a computer, but he clearly knows how to use one (I'll elaborate in a second), and I'd rather respect his privacy. Bob studied in Hawaii, was in the Marines (by his age and unwillingness to discuss this further, I assume he was in Vietnam), and has worked at O'Hare for more than three decades. He has a nifty trolley with every type of screw imaginable, and even though he deals with techy-ish stuff is a self-proclaimed avoider of all technology (he said he owns a TV so deep he couldn't fit it through his doorway). Bob also lost his dog this past weekend; he adopted him when his previous dog passed away in order to "speed up the grieving process." Bob had to spend a year rehabilitating him after adoption because he couldn't move his back legs very well since he had been at the shelter for so long.
Now, how I know that Bob can use a computer -- Bob spent all morning telling me about the next dog he wants to adopt. She looks like a Shepherd/Labrador mix, is five years old and named after a legendary singer. When I returned from my break today, Bob said he was looking at her over lunch and left a picture of her up on his boss's computer because it looks like she's smiling, haha. Too cute.
I should write a book of all the people I've met in my life. They're "ordinary," if you only appreciate Oprah and Bill Gates types, but they have great stories. All of us do.
With that, have a very Happy Bokeh Wednesday :-)
I hope you make a new friend today.
