SINGAPORE CELEBRATES WORLD DIABETES DAY 2015

In celebration of World Diabetes Day on 14th of November, TOUCH Diabetes Support, a community service organisation in Singapore providing care and support for people living with diabetes, orchestrated the lighting up of the Iconic Singapore Flyer in Blue. The evening event was attended by over 300, consisted of people living with diabetes, their loved ones, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and pharmaceutical companies in diabetes care. Singapore’s Minister of State for Health, Dr Amy Khor graced the occasion, identifying with the message of bringing diabetes awareness to the masses. Participants, all wearing white Tshirts with the blue circle logo, formed a glowing human blue dot using Blue LED Wands, set against the backdrop of the Singapore Flyer. It was indeed a Blue Circle Moment as they shouted in unison "Act Now Change Tomorrow" and saw the turning of the Flyer in blue!

After the ride on the Flyer, participants walked around the vicinity giving out Blue balloons and an ‘Act Now’ card to the crowds . The ‘Act Now’ card is a simple risk assessment tool created by TOUCH Diabetes Support, to allow anyone to check for the common signs & symptoms associated with diabetes. Through this card, participants were able to create awareness of diabetes and share about the significance of World Diabetes Day.
