i was actually trying to take a picture of the journalist with the amusing TV helmet, but on a second look i noticed the cop behind with the video camera. i couldn't figure out why they'd be videoing the protestors. the official line is that they want to make sure everything was documented so they could check to see what really happened for people filing police brutality complaints. but i highly doubted that that was the real reason.
then today i read in the globe that the cops are going to run facial recogition software on the digital images of thousands of people at the protest (www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/toronto-pol...) great, so now we're all gonna be on a shitlist somewhere and who knows what that's gonna be used for.
