Pale for Weariness of Climbing Heaven…? —PB Shelley

This is a black and white shot of the moon rising over Meteora, Greece. The spindle-shaped rock formation is called Roka or Adrachti.

One remembers the interrogative verses written by one of the greatest romantic poets:

❝Art thou pale for weariness

Of climbing heaven and gazing on the earth,

Wandering companionless

Among the stars that have a different birth,…?❞

—Percy Bysshe Shelley (“To The Moon”)

At the time of shooting, the moon was:

—98.4% illuminated (one day before sturgeon’s fuff super moon)

—aged 14 days 6 hrs 35 min

—at a distance of 365,285 km away from Earth

—6.82° above the horizon

—having an angular diameter of 0.543°
