Synced at last
The new rig consistently captures with synchronization. As I was told to expect, an occasional shot comes through out of sync. It happens so rarely that it's barely worth mentioning, tho. The rest of the time, no sync issues are detectable.
The new rig also allows me to shoot subjects much closer to the camera than I could with the old rig, since the camera objectives can be moved so close together. Close ups and portraits are a possibility now. This new rig does not have the hyper stereo base capability that my old rig did, so buildings/landscapes are off-limits until a new hyper-base frame can be fabricated. Getting used to the new range of subject distance and camera separation will be my focus for awhile. The variable stereo base frame allows 47-87mm (1.85-3.42 in.) separation.
The cameras capture HUGE detailed images, which slow down the alignment and anaglyph generation on the computer, choking it entirely in some cases. So far I have had to shrink the images somewhat to keep Anabuilder from choking. SPM seems to handle the large file sizes just fine.
