Television:
Analog TV signals will be switched off around Australia, region by region, by the end of 2013.
So, to keep watching you'll need to be digital ready. Many areas are already 'digital only'. In some areas (ie remote and difficult reception capability regions), will only have access to satellite transmissions.
Radio:
Radio transmission is going the same way, although only currently available in city areas.
Australia has adopted a unique DAB+ format for radio, so receivers with the designation of DAB will not work here. Initially few models and brands were available for the Australian market and were rather expensive, however there is now a wide selection available with correspondingly lower prices.
You can however listen to Australian stations on DAB+ radio here on your computer!
