As part of an IAEA coordinated research project on improved assessment of radiation alarms at borders, experts from the IAEA, together with customs officers from Sri Lanka and Cambodia, conduct a beta test of a new tool for front line officers. The first of its kind, the tool will enhance officers’ ability to quickly and precisely evaluate commodities that trigger alarms and make better informed decisions on whether an alarm is innocent or necessitates further investigation. The launch is scheduled for June 2017.– Colombo, Sri Lanka.
