Members of the Iowa Department of Education and the state’s Area Education agencies were training in Des Moines for the upcoming debut of RtI in some Iowa schools this fall.
RtI is a proven practice to help schools identify, and intervene with, struggling readers early on. It is a
framework for decision making, using data, universal screening and progress monitoring tools.
Participants at the workshop will act as supports for the schools that have been selected to delve into RtI this fall. In September, school leaders will be trained in RtI, who in turn will conduct hands-on training with school staff.
