measuring a...gold...triangle...thingy!

if anyone knows what this is, please let me know in the comments.

 

the coordinate measuring machine is used to precisely measure and check specific points on a machined part against the engineer's specifications. the tiny probe touches the part it various places and makes a little 'beep!' when the measurement is taken. it was very cool to see such a big machine working so quickly yet so daintily.
