A visitor at Umgodi
We had spent an incredibly exciting night at the Umgodi overnight hide at Zimanga Private Game Reserve and seen lots of buffalos, wildebeasts, warthogs, rhinos coming to drink and oh, yes, Egyptian Geese (wouldn't have thought it possible for a goose to completely block a rhino from view, but it is!!) but the one thing we hadn't seen at the waterhole so far that night, were elephants.
We could hear them all night, feeding really close by but it was not until the next morning that one of them came to drink.
I cannot describe the feeling when you're sitting there, underground at water-level, and this incredibly impressive animal is towering over you. It is one of the most humbling experiences I've ever had.
