Cub cakes..
The last day in Kruger.
It's rainy season in South Africa in December. The landscape is green and luscious, but it makes animals more difficult to spot (and to photograph).
But we prefer it this way.We like to think that animals really do have a choice when we see them in this season; water and food everywhere, so they are not dependent on that one waterhole (where 20 cars are surrounding them)
Anyway... we hadn't seen much that day, except for a gorgeous flock of Kestrels, which photos I absolutely blew! (aaaagh!)
Then, as this is Africa, out of nowhere, there was this pride of lions; 4 cubs, 3 females and two males. We spent at least an hour with them. I can still 'hear' our ranger Dennis (Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge) think: "Jaaawn....! Can we go on, now?". (just kidding, Dennis). But I also hear our companion on this gamedrive Karen from Switzerland gasping: "Ooh, I could spend all day here!"
With which I totally agreed! :-)
