"The Spark" from Conception to Reality

The script is about looking for "the spark", and for "the light".

And so this theme was ever present in my mind directing my crew and diving in to set up the lights of the shoot itself, find the right angle, and capture both physical light, and the spark of intensity of our beautiful model Ashley Chamberland.

During shooting, I would read the script aloud, and she would echo it back to me. I myself became an actor that day, speaking the text aloud in such a way that Ms. Chamberland would know what I wanted, and deliver it back with the same feeling, but with an extra spark of her own.

I am including a typed copy of the script on my website for easy reading, but I am also presenting the script here as I encountered it both during the content development process, and during the shooting on the day itself: in a collage of phrases and mini-poems that interact with candid photos taken on the day itself.

These are not the final images, but are unretouched records of the day itself, and document how what started off as the right question for a client, and a spark in my brain, manifested into the reality of a full blown commercial.

By presenting the script in this way, I hope to demonstrate something about how my mind works -- how I see both the focused details and the big picture at the same time while creating and managing a project.
