THE DAY OF THE OLD HOTELS DOWNTOWN IS GONE.

If anyone in their youth wants to feel the buzz of the 50s or 60s, find an old hotel that has the lobby that smells a bit musty, a sleepy-eyed desk-clerk and large upholstered chairs in the lobby area. Awaken the clerk and secure a room, preferably by the neon sign outside the room. Of course, one might never know if the sign lights until dark, and then only if the clerk remembers to activate the sign. As the sun falls slowly below the barricade of tall buildings surrounding the old hotel, wait to hear a faint buzzing noise as the light activates. Opt for no television in your room. This lack of communication with the day will help you feel the era of past generations. I could go on, but this is a good beginning for going back into time.

If you are a smoker, do not smoke in bed. (There is a possibility of being arrested if caught smoking in bed, beside, it is not safe. Read the rules. They will usually be tacked to inside of door.) Hopefully, your room will have a transom.
