IMPERIAL PALACE HOTEL IN 1949
Not my photo. Published for information and education purposes. The Imperial Hotel in Tokyo survived the 1923 earthquake with barely any damage. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the hotel was razed in 1967 to make room for larger facilities. (An idea that most everyone realizes was very dim.) I am happy to say that enjoyed its facilities during my tour in Japan from 1961 through 1963. It was a great weekend getaway and a room with bath cost about $8 U.S. currency. At the time, Yen was 360 per dollar.
