KANSAS CITY SNAPSHOTS--HEART OF AMERICA

I never really understood the purpose of this sculpture. That there has been controversy about the carriages pulled by horses meandering around the plaza makes this work even more ironic. In recent years, regulation of the carriage trade for tourists has been under close supervision by city officials to ascertain that horses were treated properly and happy. All is well on the country club plaza and hordes of tourists still enjoy the night rides that conjurs up continental images of romance. The bldgs, although removed from the continent, are likened to those of seville and the moorish era. Believe it or not, kansas city does have more fountains than rome.
