A Red-necked Phalarope (Phalaropus lobatus), one of hundreds resting on Chaplin Lake east of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada.

 

Chaplin Lake has been recognized as a major staging area for local nesting and migrant shorebirds on their way to their arctic breeding grounds.
