Northern Saw-whet Owl - Owlets

Northern Saw-whet Owl (Aegolius acadicus) young in the aspen parkland east of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

My wife and I went out with a good friend to check the status of some young owls in one of his nest boxes. There were six young in a range of sizes and growth development in the nest box and I was able to get some candid photos of these colourful youngsters.

It was a truly delightful experience to be so close to these wonderful little creatures and see the conservation efforts underway to ensure their long term prosperity.
