Well Court, Dean Village, Edinburgh

Well Court was built in 1886 for the owner of the "Scotsman" newspaper to "provide good quality housing for local people" . The architect included a mix of apartment sizes and a hall "to encourage social interaction and community spirit amongst the tenants."

Although Edinburgh has been identified as one of 14 tourist sites worldwide that have become overwhelmed with visitors, they were all over on the Royal Mile. This beautiful village on the edge of the downtown area, but within the city, was virtually deserted!
