last rays of sun

Last fall I had one of my last boat trips to one of the islands located on the west side of the Oslofjord in the Nøtterøy archipelago. This island is quite easy to reach because it has a quite bay on the north side - unlike Havskaaren where you have to risk boat and men to enter under rough sea conditions.

I was shooting for a while on this cloudy evening and except a small red line on the horizon there was no sign of the evening sun. But then - at its lowest point before disappearing behind the horizon - the sun managed to cast some last rays on the tip of the waves.

Shooting under these conditions is a tough trade. It was fairly cold and you always get wet standing there - a bit too far out - with your wide angle to catch the waves right. It is quite different from traditional landscape shooting where you can take the time to compose and get things right. When shooting so close to the waves you have to watch out for the right moment - to shoot - and to escape...
