Cluttered workbench

I first learned about the possibility of doing 3D imaging with a SLR from Ethan on the last Utah Photo Safari. (Here's a picture of him using the equipment.) Being the cheapskate that I am, rather than buy a fancy setup, I made a bracket to mount on my tripod that would allow me to move the camera side to side while keeping the film plane parallel.

This is a combination of the very first two images I took using it. The subject isn't inspiring, it's just my cluttered workbench in the basement, but it's 3D clutter!

You need to use red/blue 3D glasses (or red and blue filters held up to your eyes) to see it correctly. More information on how to create these images in standard photo editing software can be found in this article.
