Under Fuji’s Gaze

I still can’t believe that nearly 75% of the images I captured during this Japan trip were taken with my iPhone — not counting the few hundred frames I shot of the deer in Nara Park. I’ve always known the iPhone performs well in daylight, producing clean and balanced images. But what really surprised me this time was how Halide’s ProRAW + Depth capture allowed me to recover an unexpected sense of spatial depth — especially in the distant silhouette of Mount Fuji.

During post-processing, the layering between the foreground reeds, the lake, and the mountain felt remarkably natural, with each zone responding distinctly. It wasn’t just sharpness — it was that quiet, dimensional presence that made the scene feel real.
