Haweswater light.
The sun finally reaches the ruined bothay high up above Mardale Head and Haweswater, with the High Street Fells dusted with snow.
We had parked up at the foot of the "old corpse road" by the Lake and climbed up the path to this point. I had promised John Bleakley that he would enjoy the view from here and I don't think he was disappointed.
We spent an hour or so pottering around the 3 ruined buildings looking at potential shots as we waited for the sun to get over Selside and light this place up. When the sun finally came it was a harsh winter light, with it being so cold and clear. So despite looking at other compositions, here is the classic shot of the lower ruin, with the ridge of Riggindale leading all the way up to High Street.
The skyline from left to right is;- Branstree, Harter Fell, Nan Bield Pass, Mardale Ill Bell, Racecourse Hill, High Street, Long Stile, Short Stile and Twopenny Crag.
