The Mountain Wraith.
This was my first encounter with this fascinating old tree high on the slopes of Pico Ruivo.
I had climbed up through the clouds and mist to this spot at just under 6,000 feet and as the air cleared you are left with some incredible views across Madeira's volcanic mountains. This was a daytime recce as I was planning for a return visit the following day before dawn. That was an incredible experience and I have some nice images of this tree from that visit yet to post!
