The awakening.
Just stood here awaiting the cold, slow moments before the sun finally makes it over the Eastern horizon was wonderful.
Firstly, I was getting my breath back after my last minute decision to make the mad dash up here to catch the unexpected, unforecast, glorious, sunrise. Secondly, just to see this scene slowly unfold in front of my eyes, when all forecasts predicted clear skies.
This was a very rushed composition, I confess and I think I managed to make up for it later with some much more balanced and worthy images. BUT the sky at this moment was just beautiful, so I thought it was worth an airing on here!
This is Newbiggin Crag, looking out East towards the Yorkshire Dales about 10 minutes before sunrise.
