Whitfield Gill Force, Lower Falls.

Well, in the gloomy forecast conditions of Storm Ciaran, it seemed like a great opportunity to get out and do some waterfall photography.

I headed for Askrigg in the Northern Yorkshire Dales with the intention of walking the full length of the Paddock Beck. I had been once before and only walked as far as the impressive Mill Gill waterfall. This time I wanted to see the other two major falls on the beck, the Whitfield Gill Force upper and lower falls.

It was pretty damp in Wensleydale which meant that the flow on the rivers was pretty strong. I admit I got fairly wet in the conditions, but I really enjoyed the day out and I think I came away with some decent shots. The two waterfalls certainly didn't dissapoint, although getting up to the higher falls was pretty perilous with high water levels and lots of old fallen trees and rock slides making progress up the gorge difficult. But I did it. More images to follow.
