The bold SOO lettering on the hood of this candy apple red SD40-2 has held up well over the last 30 years.
This is the former SOO No. 6617, which was built in April of 1983. It survived on the CP for a while before it was sold to Respondek's Squaw Creek Southern Railroad in southern Indiana. It's now in the possession of Mike Roberts, owner of Railway Service Contractors, Inc.
The lettering on the engineer's side of the hood of this unit was patched and stylized to read "SCS" for the Squaw Creek Southern. 12/11/23.
