"Clearing storm on Mars...."
"Clearing storm on mars......."
This was another crazy morning somewhere in Utah. We had scouted the day before and knew just where we wanted to go for sunrise. We got up at stupid o'clock and drove out to where we needed to hike for about 30 minutes or so. Headlamps on, tripods in hand, cameras in packs....ready to go. Up we went in the dark to our pre-scouted spot. Took my pack off, set up my tripod, and tried to put my camera on the tripod. Ummm.....that wasn't happening. Just before leaving on the trip for Utah, I got a new camera. The L bracket needed to mount the camera to the tripod was not yet available. I did bring another one that would work......but I completely forgot to attach it to the camera...It was in the car.....Nowhere near me.......NOW WHAT!!? The most amazing scene was unfolding in front of my eyes and the light was very low. I had no choice but to handhold my camera. The new Nikon Z9 has some wonderful image stabilization built in and this really enabled me to handhold at very slow shutter speeds. My camera saved the day!!!!!.....Note to self...........
Nikon Z9 with Nikkor 27-70F2.8 S lens at 47mm, ISO 250, 1/13sec, F16, handheld with a prayer!
