Lost up North

Over the years I have seen some superb images of Nuthatches and always been a little bit envious as we do not have these beautiful birds this far north.

Well, today I was proved wrong. I spotted an upside down bird on the peanut feeder across the garden from my office window as I sat down after lunch and it was only after giving some thought that I stood up for another look - wow it was a Nuthatch.

The light was poor and the bird a long way away (this is a heavy crop of the original image), but I needed some shots of a bird I'd never seen 'in the flesh' before.

It was there again in the evening when I finished work and was even rummaging around for food on the ground.
