Downy Woodpecker - male

Backyard birds. On cold mornings I put out 4 or more cups of sunflower seeds, along with a handful of shelled peanuts and a couple of handfuls of cracked corn. I keep the squirrels mostly off the feeders by making sure there's plenty of seed on the ground (actually, on "feeding stumps" and "feeding stones") for them too.
