These are some of the wall paintings at Cheena Bhavana, Santiniketan by Nandalal Bose (1882-1966), a foremost student of Abanindranath Tagore and a close associate of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Nandalal's fame rests on his works on Hindu religious and mythological themes. At the initiative of Sister Nivedita, Nandalal visited the Ajanta caves in 1924 with Lady Harringham and artist Asit Kumar Haldar where he made exquisite copies of the cave paintings. In 1928 he rendered these famous fresco-buono painting (Ajanta style) on the wall of Cheena Bhavana, Santiniketan, which made him immortal.
