Lower Lewis river falls, spring
I headed out this morning to try and find the waterfall I posted dropping into the Swift Creek reservoir. I made my way to the other side of the lake and got close according to my gps but was high above it on a logging road. There is no way to hike down to it. That area is steeper than the gorge. A boat might be the best way in
THE best part of the day though was seeing an incredible amount of elk around the lake. I saw 5 or 6 different herds, at least 25 elk, more than I've probably ever seen in total in the wild ever. they just meandered around too, I had to get fairly close to them before they would trot off.
The biggest bummer of the day is when I got to Lower Lewis river falls and realized I left all my filters at home. So no polarizer or long exposures. It was completely sunny too, which was pretty awesome, just not for waterfalls.
Also checked out middle lewis river falls. Not much of a waterfall in my opinion. It just rolls down a steep rock. If the water doesn't get airborn it isn't really a waterFALL. Maybe a steep creek.
