Latourell snow cone

Latourell looked much different today than 9 days ago when I last visited, and much different than last year also. 9 days ago there was light snow, today the cone where the falls hits is the size of a house, no exaggerating ( not a good shot for scale though ).

Last year there was light snow on the trail to the falls and at the falls everything was encased in ice. This year there is over a foot of snow on the trail. I think there was more water flowing last year so it blew around quite a bit. Hardly any of the cool ice formations this year.

The cone has to be 15 to 20 feet high. It seems like the water falls behind it somewhat, blocking alot of the spray. The water makes its way under the snow just showing through at a couple places before it reaches the bridge.

Also tried to snow shoe in to Elowah but the last leg was impossible. Those steep zig zags down to the creek are covered in snow. It's real steep without those.
