En Líbano no puede haber golpe de Estado, ni revolución, ni mucho menos ningún amago de primavera árabe. En este república organizada sobre el sistema de distribución del poder de naturaleza confesional -el presidente debe ser un cristiano manorita; el jefe de Gobierno, un musulmán suní; el presidente del Parlamento, un chií; los ministros, los diputados, los altos cargos del ejército y de la administración, desempeñados por erepresentantes de sus dieciocho comunidades religiosas reconocidas-son raras las manifestaciones reivindicando mejoras sociales y económicas.

In Lebanon there can be no coup d'etat, no revolution, much less any feint of the Arab spring. In this republic organized on the system of distribution of power of a confessional nature - the president must be a Manorite Christian; the head of Government, a Sunni Muslim; the president of the Parliament, a Shiite; the ministers, the deputies, the high positions of the army and of the administration, carried out by representatives of their eighteen recognized religious communities-demonstrations are rare claiming social and economic improvements.
